I have been talking about home security with a lot of homeowners. I am attempting to acquire some insight on the different ways that our homes can become at risk. One of the things I asked each person was if they had ever witnessed suspicious actions at their house. A robbery, broken windows, a suspicious individual – anything really. Almost everybody had a story to tell. Many of the stories eventually led them to purchase a burglar alarm. I have been told that Home Security Kansas is a choice that people people have gone with.
One person informed me that he was home for the afternoon, but left to go pick his little boy up from hockey practice. After they returned home approximately 10 minutes later, one of his windows was shattered and several things were missing inside. He thought he had been watched, and that the robber knew when he left. Another mother of 3 said that she opened the door to a person who claimed to be a salesman. After he finished speaking, he asked if he could come inside to talk it over with her. She said no thank you, and the man again replied by asking if he could still come inside and use her telephone. Since the guy was being so persistent, she again declined and closed the door in his face.
All of us have had encounters with shady situations and people. Some are worse than others, like the first man’s experience. The information I am trying to figure out helps me figure out what drives people to install a alarm system. The woman said she chose to get one the following day.
I have learned about a ton of identical stories from other people. People never know what is going to happen on a given day. I am confident that these two people did not wake up that morning and think something abnormal would happen that day. It definitely highlights the importance of being proactive.
